The village of Brussels has its first Living Wage Champion.
United Way Perth-Huron Executive Director Ryan Erb said the Living Wage is bigger than income because it helps improve the overall quality of life.
Bodmin Limited owner Kate Procter said she's proud to be recognized as the first Living Wage Champion elementary in Brussels and she absolutely agrees it's not just about the money.
"We're already paying well over the Living Wage to our employees," said Procter. "And I think it's important to raise awareness of what the Living Wage actually is and that it is important for people to make a good living so they can have a good life.”
Procter added there are benefits to the employer paying a Living Wage, as well and that starts with attracting and retaining staff.
Procter said Bodmin is a small farm operation that usually employs four or five people.
