Group seeks SS Trolley funding

The SS Trolley is in need of funding before its 2020 season.

The Chamber of Commerce said it costs roughly $40,000 to operate, and right now they are $15,000 to $18,500 short.

They are asking the Town of Saugeen Shores for $15,000, the same as previous years.

If they are given those funds, Chamber President Steve Harris said they can handle any remaining deficit.

"Our focus from that point would be looking at private industry and sponsorship, as well as any advertising within the trolley. We also have found in the past that people do provide in kind donations," said Harris.

The trolley operates between July and August from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and has ten stops between Port Elgin and Southampton.

Council will discuss funding at a budget meeting later this month.
