Operators are already using Bruce Power's new reactor training simulator.
The innovative reactor training simulator is used to train and test certified operators using state-of-the-art software modelling and analytical-based computer codes.
The facility is an exact replica of the Units 7 and 0 control rooms. Work began in 2016 and was finished two weeks ahead of schedule. The work included constructing a new 7,000 square foot addition to the Bruce Power Learning Centre, replicating the control room and writing new software packages.
"This is another tremendous example of the innovation our people bring to work each and every day," said Bruce Power President and CEO Mike Rencheck, in a news release. "It's the sort of ingenuity and creativity that will ensure we continue to be successful, and ensure our staff receive the best training to prepare them for the roles."
Employees began training on the new simulator on January 6.
