The Town of Saugeen Shores has posted new information for home-and-cottage owners concerning the water level on Lake Huron.
They note that the water level at the beginning of December was 90 centimetres above average, and 42 centimetres higher than its level at the same time last year. This is the second-highest period on record, with a level that is only a couple of centimetres short of the record, set in 1986.
The town also discussed what is being done due to the high water levels, including repair work along some waterways and trails, stones placed at the beach in Port Elgin, and an update on drainage.
