A disturbance at a restaurant in Fergus ended with a man charged with assaulting a police officer.
Wellington OPP officers were called to the restaurant Saturday night around 9:15 p.m. to reports of a man out of control, yelling at staff and causing a disturbance.
The OPP found a suspect, who appeared to be intoxicated, nearby. Officers tried to arrest the suspect for public intoxication but alleged that he became combative and head-butted an officer.
Police also alleged that they found a large quantity of cannabis on the man.
A 31-year-old is charged with assault a peace officer, possession of over 30 grams of dried cannabis and being intoxicated in a public place. He is due in court in Guelph on February 18.
