Dignitaries tour Chesley Hospital upgrades

Local dignitaries celebrated the completion of the $2.75 million infrastructure project at South Bruce Grey Health Centre’s Chesley site.

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care provided funding for this project through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF).

Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson and Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker had a look at the new air-handling units and new sprinkler system.

The project was completed on time and under budget.

“I’m happy to see this project completed at South Bruce Grey Health Centre’s hospital in Chesley. This critical infrastructure will ensure the Chesley Hospital continues to deliver the highest quality health care services for our community. I’m particularly pleased with our government’s investment in this project through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund. This investment demonstrates our commitment to protecting and enhancing our world-class health care system,” said Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker.

“This infrastructure project was money well spent,” said Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson. “Replacing the air-handling units along with the installation of a completely new sprinkler system enhances and improves the overall safety features at the Chesley site. I also want to congratulate the Chesley and District Health Services Foundation, and indeed the local community, for your fantastic support to the hospital. These changes and upgrades are an important addition to this facility."

SBGHC Board Chair. Lindsay Manery, Chair of the Chesley & District Health Services Foundation, and Pamela Cookson, foundation coordinator, were also on hand to tour the completed renovations. The Chesley & District Health Services Foundation also celebrated after funding new nurses’ stations, an accessible washroom, and a safe room in the emergency department for mental health patients. The foundation also supported renovations to the laboratory, new paint and new lighting inpatient rooms.
