Fresh snow helps Huron OPP track suspect

Huron County OPP had a fresh snowfall to help them track a suspect.

On Monday morning, Huron OPP officers responded to an address located on Thames Road west of Exeter for a report of a suspicious person on the property. The property owner observed the suspect operating an ATV on his property and shortly thereafter the suspect was observed hiding in some bushes on the property.

As police responded to the scene the property owner went out and removed the key to the ATV thus preventing the accused from fleeing on the machine. Upon arrival, officers began following the fresh tracks in the snow and mud and as they were closing in on the suspect police received a report of a suspicious male nearby on Hern Line.

Officers were able to track a suspect. Further checks also determined the ATV he was in possession of had been stolen out of Oxford County.

A 24-year-old Stratford man faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime, and fail to comply with recognizance. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 2, 2019, at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
