Cyclist rushed to hospital after hit and run crash

A Port Elgin man has been hospitalized after he was involved in a hit and run crash while riding a bicycle north of Tiverton.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on Friday at around 6 a.m., the 58-year-old Port Elgin cyclist was travelling south on Lake Range Road, south of Bruce Concession Road 10, when he was struck by a pickup truck that was also travelling south. The driver of the truck left the scene before emergency crews arrived.

The cyclist was rushed to a local hospital before being airlifted to a regional hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has since been released from hospital.

Police said officers have since identified a suspect involved in the hit and run and added that charges are pending.
