Some eligible voters in Wingham area without information cardsOctober 11, 2019 9:50am
Roughly 3,000 eligible voters in the Wingham area have not received their Voter Information Card.
The issue reported by Elections Canada comes with advance voting starting on Friday.
The media advisor for Elections Canada, Rejean Grenier, said if you have not received a Voter Information Card and you reside in the Wingham area, you should go to the Knights of Columbus Hall. It is located at 99 Kerr Dr. inside the North Huron Wescast Community Complex. Extra Elections Canada staff has been called in to help.
Grenier added you will need identification, most commonly a driver’s licence. Or you can show two other pieces of identification, one that shows your name and address and one that shows at least your name.
Grenier said the issue with the situation is that advanced polls opened Friday and are open until Monday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.
As for other areas across Midwestern Ontario, Grenier says they have not heard of any other instances of people not receiving their cards and should go to the polling station that is identified on the card.
