No injuries from apartment fire on west side of Owen Sound

An apartment building on the west side of Owen Sound was damaged by fire Sunday morning.

Just before 9:00 a.m., Owen Sound Fire Services along with paramedics and Inter-township Fire responded to the blaze at the apartment building.

Firefighters found a 3rd floor apartment engulfed in flames and smoke.   They were able to contain the fire to the one unit, and quickly extinguished it.

The male occupant of the apartment had escape without injuries.   He was taken to hospital as a precaution, and was later released.

Paramedics also transported two elderly tenants to hospital, and they were also released a short time later.

Officials from Grey County Housing responded to the scene to help with displaced tenants.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.
