Wellington County OPP officers honoured

Members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police were among those honoured at the West Region Awards Ceremony held at the Ontario Police College for their acts of bravery, years of service and life-saving efforts.

Provincial Constable Jennifer Tschanz and Sgt. Mike Dolderman and Auxiliary Sgt. Heather Unwin received the Commissioner's Citation for Lifesaving.

Provincial Constable Jennifer Osborne received the Exemplary Performance of Duty Award.

Nine citizens were recognized for acts of heroism and bravery including five that received the Commissioner's Citation for Lifesaving award.

Provincial Constable Heather Nellis received the Commissioner's Citation for Bravery.

13 officers received medals for years of service ranging from 20 years to 40 years.

Sgt. Kevin Driscoll received the Ovation Award - Innovation - STAR - Satellite Technology Apprehension Response Pilot Project.

Provincial Constable Jennifer Tschanz received the Youth Foundation Award.

"It is a tremendous culture that we have, people reaching beyond their comfort and limitation to help strangers. It should be the norm to shine a light on these acts that exemplify what fine human behaviour looks like. Big, small, successful, or not, unselfish acts like these strengthen our community," said Wellington County OPP Commander Inspector Scott Lawson.
