Registrations are now being accepted for a two-day Seniors’ Summit in Owen Sound later this month.

The Summit will explore how age-friendly communities can support the health and well-being of older adults.  It's being held at the Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound, September 24 and 25.

Presented by the Council on Aging Grey Bruce, the Seniors’ Summit is a partnership of the Active Lifestyles Centre Grey-Bruce, South East Grey Community Health Centre, Grey Bruce Health Unit, Home & Community Support Services, Victorian Order of Nurses and other community health service providers.

"We all play a role in creating a community where seniors live safely, enjoy good health and stay engaged in their communities"  explained Tanya Shute, co-chair of the Council on Aging Grey Bruce. "Older adults, caregivers, healthcare providers and community leaders can all help to create communities that are good for people of all ages".

The Summit opens on Tuesday, September 24th with a dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. and a keynote address by Dr. Brian Goldman, host of the CBC’s award-winning radio show White Coat, Black Art.

The full day session Wednesday, the 25th will again feature a keynote address by Dr. Goldman followed by breakout sessions on topics such as housing, transportation, fraud prevention, health and well-being.
