Corner stores can now apply to the LCBO to sell booze

Businesses in 302 "select communities" are now eligible to apply to the LCBO for authorization to sell alcoholic beverages in their stores.

Late yesterday afternoon the LCBO announced it was seeking requests for proposals from businesses in mostly small towns and villages.

There is a list of requirements businesses have to meet in order to have their application placed into a lottery.

The deadline to apply is October 8th. The LCBO plans to authorize 200 "convenience outlets" by the spring of 2020.

Some Midwestern Ontario communities eligible to apply include Wroxeter, Gorrie, Hepworth, Stoke's Bay, Millbank, Formosa, Oliphant, and Brucefield.
