West Grey set to lobby provincial representatives this week

West Grey Mayor Christine Robinson, councillors and staff, are participating in the annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference in Ottawa.

Robinson said the conference is a critical opportunity to let the provincial government know local concerns and advocate for the needs of residents.

West Grey has four delegations scheduled. The one on one meetings with provincial ministers and staff will involve a call for strengthened communication and fair funding formulas for infrastructure.

Robinson said she also wants to explore exploring blue box recycling and organics in a rural environment along with a proposal that recognizes bridges as an important tourism opportunity.

“West Grey has such an exciting story to tell—it is our pleasure to share and connect with our provincial and municipal partners in order to build vital pathways and relationships for the betterment of our community,” Robinson said. “It is important to remember, we are also there to listen; there is so much to learn from other municipalities right across the province.”
