Woman struck crossing the street in Southampton

A Saugeen Shores woman is facing an impaired driving charge after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Southampton.

The Saugeen Shores Police Service said on Wednesday shortly before 4:22 p.m.,  a 62-year-old woman was crossing Huron Street when the vehicle hit her.

The pedestrian suffered cuts to her arms and head and was treated in hospital. She has since been discharged.

The driver was arrested after allegedly failing a breath test and was taken to police headquarters for further tests.

A 67-year-old Saugeen Shores woman is now charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams and dangerous driving. Her driver’s licence has also been suspended for 90 days and her vehicle will be impounded for seven days.  She has been released with a future court date.
