Body recovered from private lake in Normanby Township

The body of a 55-year-old man has been pulled from a private lake in Normanby Township after he went missing while canoeing.

The West Grey Police Service responded to a residence in the township on Wednesday after the man was reported missing. The West Grey Fire Department, the Hanover Fire Department Swift Water Rescue Unit and the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit conducted an extensive search of the lake.

The man's body was recovered from the lake Wednesday evening.

A coroner will be working with officers to determine the circumstances that lead to the man's death.
