Police looking for suspects after child chased in Wingham

Police are looking for three suspects after an eight-year-old boy was chased by three strangers in a van in Wingham.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on Thursday at around 2:30 p.m., a group of five children between the ages of seven and 14 were walking around Shuter Street when one of the boys started to lag behind. The eight-year-old boy was approached by three men in a van before two of them got out and immediately started chasing after him for a short distance. The child took off running and was able to get away to a place of safety and ultimately meet up with the other children.

The van was last seen travelling north on Shuter Street where it turned left and headed west on Charles Street towards Josephine Street. The van is described as a white, cargo style van with a sliding passenger door and two barn-style rear doors.

One of the pursuers was wearing a balaclava, black pants and a black shirt, while another was also dressed in black and is described as having greyish hair. The driver is believed to possibly be in his 30s, he has facial hair and was wearing a black hat.
