Brockton unhappy with natural gas pipeline location

Brockton Mayor Chris Peabody is disappointed in a ruling by the Ontario Energy Board that will see some residents unable to access a natural gas pipeline being built through the municipality.

Peabody and other members of council passed a special bylaw this week to allow the pipeline to be built, but a complaint by Enbridge means most residents will not be able to tap into it.

In some areas near Walkerton, residents on one side of the road will have access to natural gas, while on the other side, they will not.

Peabody said he plans to lobby the provincial government to make the change, noting council felt they had to pass the bylaw because if they did not, there would not be any chance of gaining access to natural gas in the future.
