SNC Lavalin moves to larger Port Elgin office

SNC-Lavalin has cut the ribbon once again in Port Elgin.

The business has moved to a much larger facility to accommodate its expanding workforce to support the Bruce Power Life Extension Program. The previous office opened almost two years ago with a capacity for 12 employees but was quickly outgrown.

There are now 30 SNC-Lavalin Port Elgin employees and space for up to 75 at the new location on Goderich Street in Port Elgin.

From October 2016 to May 2019, SNC-Lavalin was awarded approximately $350 million in contracts by Bruce Power under a previously announced Master Service Agreement.

"The new larger office is a testament of our positive working relationship with Bruce Power demonstrated through our local workforce and the deliverables they have provided to Bruce’s Life Extension Program," said Bill Fox, executive vice president of nuclear at SNC-Lavalin. "Since the opening of our first office in Port Elgin, both SNC-Lavalin and its local employees have been proud participants in this wonderful community."

"It’s exciting to see SNC-Lavalin expanding its presence in Saugeen Shores as we look forward to Major Component Replacement getting underway in January 2020," said Mike Rencheck, Bruce Power’s president and CEO.

Services at the new Port Elgin office include design engineering, engineering change control process work, performing walkdowns, emergent work, and integrated work with Bruce Power on technical solutions and project management.
