A new executive director for the Georgian College Campus in Owen Sound will help the college develop positive relationships with the community, governments, and industry representatives.
Lisa Taylor will oversee the strategic leadership of the campus starting Monday, September 16.
Georgian College President and CEO Dr. MaryLynn West-Moynes said Taylor is committed to student success while embracing change and leading innovation.
“Her leadership and operational experience, broad skills, extensive background in college education and commitment to the community is exactly the combination we were seeking for this important role,” she added.
West-Moynes said she expects the new executive director will be an invaluable asset to the region, as they work to meet the evolving demands of the workforce, close the growing skills gap, and navigate the technological changes.
Taylor has more than 30 years of experience in post-secondary education, as well as a diverse background in other industries, including the newspaper and printing industry.
As Vice President, Finance and Administration, at New Brunswick Community College (NBCC), Taylor was responsible for finance, institutional research, information technology, facilities and risk management. NBCC provided Taylor with the unique experience of working for an organization that transitioned from a government agency to a crown corporation that amalgamated six public Anglophone community colleges into a one-college, six-campus model. She also helped to advance NBCC through the final years of its first strategic plan, the development of its second five-year plan and contributed to the achievement of numerous strategic goals.
Previously, Taylor was a chair in the School of Business at Algonquin College. She worked with full and part-time faculty in a portfolio that served approximately 1,200 students and included 12 programs ranging from certificates and diplomas to graduate certificates. Taylor also served as manager of operational accounting and payroll for two years.
Along with a commitment to lifelong learning, Taylor is dedicated to strengthening the community. She has been an active volunteer in many capacities. She was a co-founding member and inaugural chair of the Grenville Community Futures Development Corporation in 1989 and continued her involvement at various levels until moving from Eastern Ontario to New Brunswick in 2014. Taylor was also a member of the board of the New Brunswick Financial and Consumer Services Commission, and the Fredericton Community Foundation.
