Improved mapping part of Natural Heritage Plan for Huron County

There have been some minor changes to Huron County's Natural Heritage Plan.

Senior Planner Denise van Amersfoort said it's essentially a continuation of current business, but with improved mapping.

There are no restrictions added and things like an environmental impact study would still be required, so there is no change as a result of the plan.

"There will be further notice going out to the public if there's a change occurring on their property. They would receive notification of that and there would be open houses and meetings, definitely wanting to make sure that everyone is consulted and that they know if a change is being proposed and why."

Staff will now review the document and clarify language to avoid any misinterpretation and sending it back to county council for approval in principle.

Both the mapping and the policy will then be passed on to Huron County municipalities for incorporation into their official plan.
