Sun shines bright on Huron Multicultural Festival

Sunday's Huron Multicultural Festival was one of the most successful in the past few years.

Cultural Development Officer Rick Sickenger admitted the weather couldn't have been better and the vendors were all busy.

Sickenger said many of the stage acts from Toronto, Kitchener and London brought people with them, so that contributed to one of the biggest crowds the festival has had.

Gee Aggarwali and her husband Rohit, who own Ro Ro's Restaurant in Hensall and the Sandbar in Grand Band, were vendors. Their parents are from India but they were both born and raised in Brampton.

Gee said a festival like this is truly unique.

"We embrace our parents' culture, our heritage and we embrace our Canadian heritage and our culture. So being able to merge that into one festival is amazing," she said. "We have KorAsian, we have Jamaican, we have Mexican, so being a part of something and standing united is amazing."
