Bruce Power supports Longest Day of Play

Bruce Power is supporting the Grey Bruce Health Unit’s Longest Day of PLAY events in 18 local communities.

The program to encourage people of all ages to be active through play will receive $34,000 from Bruce Power through 2022. This brings Bruce Power’s support of the initiative to $94,000 since 2013.

“Bruce Power’s Community Investment and Sponsorship Program focuses on promoting health and wellness throughout the community, so the Longest Day of PLAY is something we are proud to support,” said James Scongack, Bruce Power’s executive vice president, corporate affairs and operational services. “We hope people of all ages get outside on the Longest Day of PLAY and enjoy the beauty offered by Bruce and Grey counties at this time of year.”

Health Promoter Jason Weppler said the Grey Bruce Health Unit is happy to work with Bruce Power on this nationally recognized event.

“Our goal every year is to get more people thinking about increasing their activity levels,” Weppler said. “Through the generous financial support of Bruce Power over the past nine years, we have been able to raise the profile of this day to the level it deserves.”

Free family events are taking place all over the Bruce and Grey counties that day, and include games, swimming, barbecues and more.
