Newcomers to Huron County get a West Coast Welcome

There's a new service in Huron County that helps newcomers to the area connect with the services they needed.

The owner of West Coast Welcome, Kim Burgsma visits with newcomers and gives them a package with hundreds of dollars of savings from businesses that sponsor the program.

She says some of challenges for newcomers are things like enrolling their children for school, or signing them up for sports teams, or finding a doctor.

" And seniors feeling isolated but not being of the age or physical condition that they need to be at home, wondering where they can meet people, especially is they're single, for the purpose for recreation."

Burgsma helps them connect with social opportunities such as the McKay Centre for Seniors in Goderich.

West Coast Welcome has a web site and can be found on most social media pages.
