Drug charges laid in connection to death of Central Huron man

Two people are facing drug-related charges following the death of a man in Central Huron.

The Ontario Provincial Police said emergency crews discovered 42-year-old David Spies in medical distress at a Cut Line Road residence, on May 26 just after 10 a.m. The Central Huron man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A cause and the circumstances of the man's death have not been released.

Following an investigation in the sudden death, police arrested 27-year-old Kayla Field on Central Huron on Tuesday. She is now charged with trafficking a Schedule I substance, possession of a Schedule I substance, and failing to comply with a probation order.  As well, 28-year-old Brandon Weitzel of Goderich was arrested on Thursday and is now charged with trafficking a Schedule I substance and failing to comply with a probation order.

Both suspects remain in custody and were scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
