Education Minister says school board concerns are premature

Ontario's Education Minister feels the Bluewater District School Board is causing unnecessary anxiety for parents and students.

The board wrote a letter to Lisa Thompson last month, outlining concerns with cutbacks to education. The letter stated that class size increases could mean a loss of up to 50 teachers with the board and jeopardize programs.

The Education Minister and MPP for Huron Bruce said the board's concerns are premature.

"We're going to be working with our school boards to cut back on the anxiety that has been perpetuated over the last number of weeks because much of it is absolutely premature," said Thompson.

The Bluewater Board has asked for a meeting with the minister.  Thompson said they're still trying to settle on a date.
