34 teaching positions cut in Huron and Perth elementary schools

Representatives of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation will be in Blyth on Thursday to talk about job losses in Huron and Perth.

According to the Avon Maitland – Elementary Teachers’ Federation, 34 teaching positions are being cut.

Local President Kent Cleland said a cut in education funding is the direct cause.

ETFO representatives are expected to release more information on the issue Thursday at 2 p.m. in Blyth in front of the constituency office of MPP Lisa Thompson.

The Avon Maitland – Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario represents 650 public school teachers in Huron and Perth.
