Huron County's Cultural Plan ready for update

Huron County's cultural development officer is inviting members of the cultural community as well as the public to an open meeting tonight at the Blyth Memorial Hall.

Rick Sickenger said they've been working with the same strategic plan for the last four years and it's time it was updated.

There were 51 recommendations in six strategic focus areas and they were able to implement or at least move forward on 46 of those recommendations.

Sickenger said culture encompasses arts and heritage, so anything from the Blyth Festival to historic plaques, concerts, theatre, art programming, heritage programming, the Multi-cultural Festival, the Alice Munro Festival of the Short Story event and a host of community events and celebrations.

Sickenger added one of the things they learned from the last cultural plan is that when everyone in the sector and the county work together they can accomplish a lot.

The public meeting is Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Blyth Memorial Hall.
