Wellington North looking at reducing expenditures

Wellington North is joining other Wellington County municipalities in a county-wide effort to save money.

Council agreed to contribute $25,000 of a $618,000 “unconditional” provincial grant to hire a consultant for about $300,000.

The other six Wellington municipalities, as well as Wellington County, are contributing the remainder.

The money is supposed to be spent to save money through service delivery reviews, shared service agreements, and capital investments.

Mayor Andy Lennox told council Monday that some see it as the thin edge of the wedge towards further amalgamation, while others see it as a way to improve service delivery.
