Some of the largest employers in Wellington North are ready to partner with local developers to build housing that could rent for less than average market conditions.
Following a meeting with employers, Mayor Andy Lennox said it's clear they are willing to participate in creating affordable housing to attract new employees.
Such housing may take the form of high rise apartments.
Lennox said if the pilot program works, it could encourage other developers to create similar affordable housing.
