Clinton-Blyth events focus on education changes

The President of District 8 of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation says they are getting a lot of support from other teacher's groups for their rally planned for Friday evening in Blyth.

Shane Restall disputes Premier Ford's contention that the redundancy notices that have been issued to so many teachers throughout the Province are part of a process that happens every year.

Restall says there have been specific cuts to funding for certain lines, and for certain jobs that have resulted in a much higher number of redundancies this year than the normal staffing process.

They are also asking the government to reconsider changes to things like class sizes and e-learning.

Friday afternoon's rally in front of MPP Lisa Thompson's constituency office in Blyth is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Ontario's NDP Education Critic is going to be in Clinton Thursday night for a Town Hall Meeting.

Marit Stiles will host a roundtable discussion on the provincial government's changes to education, and the impact they will have on students and familes.

The open meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion branch in Clinton.
