Children ingest marijuana edibles, Port Elgin couple charged

A Port Elgin couple are facing drug-related charges after two children became sick from ingesting THC gummies.

THC gummies are candies and are one type of edible cannabis product. They were ordered online, and are an illicit product.

Saugeen Shores police determined that the children had located improperly stored gummies in the home and ingested them.  The children required medical treatment and have recovered.

Bruce Grey Child and Family Services are providing care and direction for the children.

A man and woman from Port Elgin have been charged with possession of illicit cannabis and two counts of failing to provide the necessaries of life.

Saugeen Shores Police Service is reminding people that despite the new Cannabis Act, edible cannabis products such as cannabis candy, gummies, brownies, etc., cannot be manufactured and sold. Possession of these manufactured products is illegal.
