Digital support planned for South Bruce Peninsula businesses

The Town of South Bruce Peninsula has obtained a grant to help create a Digital Service Squad.

The Ontario wide "Digital Main Street" program helps small businesses use digital tools and techniques to become more visible and successful.

The program is offered through the Province of Ontario and the Ontario BIA Association to ensure small businesses can adopt the new technologies such as e-commerce and social media to back-office systems such as payroll and inventory.

Recruitment for a candidate to administer the program will commence shortly.

“Sustainable business growth is very important to me and the Town Council. This is an important economic development initiative where we can directly provide support to our businesses and allow them to transform their online presence,” said Mayor Jackson.

“The Town of South Bruce Peninsula has taken a lead on using the power of Digital Main Street to help keep their downtown cores vibrant and strong,” said Kay Matthews, Executive Director of the Ontario BIA Association. “Our small main street businesses are a critical contributor to Ontario’s economic, social and cultural health, and it’s vital that we work together to ensure their  success. Digital Main Street will help the main street small businesses in the South Bruce Peninsula compete in an increasingly digital world.”
