Southgate council wants to know what it’s going to cost before deciding on renovating the historic Dundalk Olde Town Hall.
The upstairs theatre portion of the building was closed for fire code infractions in 2013.
A preliminary estimate by the Goderich architectural firm of Allan Avis suggests the renovations could cost between $1.2 million and $3.5million.
On Wednesday, council agreed to take the next step and spend about $17,000 for an engineer to determine exactly what repairs are needed to the Dundalk building and at what cost.
