Labour shortage event in Southampton Wednesday

The Town of Saugeen Shores will be hosting a discussion on labour shortage on Wednesday.

Local business owners are encouraged to attend the Southampton event and share their stories with local, provincial and federal representatives. A panel of experts will discuss the reality of labour shortage as a national issue.

Mayor Luke Charbonneau said affordable housing will be part of the solution, but the reality is that the labour shortage will require a broader range of solutions.

The panel discussion is scheduled for Wednesday morning at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre, starting at 9 a.m.

"We've heard from the community that it is a trying time to secure a workforce," said Mayor Charbonneau. "This event will bring discussion on this national issue to the surface locally. Our community and region need to think outside the box and this event demonstrates our commitment to working with our businesses as they address their labour needs."
