Minto missing person case becomes murder investigation

Wellington County OPP say what started out as a missing person report in Harriston, has now turned into a murder investigation.

43-year-old Jason John Brown of Kitchener was reported missing on Tuesday from a location on Jessie Street in Harriston.

Durham Regional Police found the body of the missing male on March 13th on Stevenson Road in Oshawa.

A release from Wellington OPP says the case is now being treated as a homicide due to the results of the post-mortem completed today.

The investigation is ongoing and further updates will be provided as they become available.

Members with the Wellington County OPP Crime Unit, OPP West Region Criminal Operations and OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) are investigating the circumstances of the death, under the direction of Detective Inspector Scott Moore of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB). The Office of the Chief Coroner, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, Durham Regional Police and Waterloo Regional Police are assisting with the investigation.
