Mount Forest working on aquatic plans

Wellington North council thinks it would be less confusing if two fundraising projects in Mount Forest were separated.

The Mount Forest Lions Club has taken a lead roll in the splash pad project, which will cost about $200,000. And Wellington North settled on the location of the new pool, accepting a recommendation from the Aquatic Advisory Committee that it be built just east of the Mount Forest Sports Complex.

Several members of council said that some residents might want to donate to one project but not the other.

But Wellington North Councillor Sherry Burke, chair of the aquatic advisory committee, said the committee does not want to lose its growing momentum. She promised to take the issue back to the committee and to contact the local Lions Club regarding a funding commitment for the splash pad.
