Hold and secure situation over at Mitchell high school

A situation at Mitchell Mitchell District High School resulted in a hold and secure event.

Provincial Constable Barry Cookson said the OPP were called to the school at 10 a.m. on Thursday, because a student at the school was having some issues. He says an officer was nearby and the situation was quickly rectified.

School board spokesperson Sarah Stright said the hold and secure was put in place so students would not be changing classes while police dealt with the problem.

Cookson said there was no official lockdown and no threat of violence.

Everything was resolved within 20 minutes.
