Owen Sound police charge four in domestic violence probe

Four local men are charged following a domestic violence investigation conducted by the Owen Sound Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch.

Police allege a man convicted of domestic violence offences was breaching probation and associating with his victim at her home.

Despite the victim’s denial of the offender’s presence in her home and her unwillingness to cooperate, police obtained a warrant to search the west side residence. A 38-year-old man was subsequently located hiding inside of the home along with a second male who was wanted by the Saugeen Shores Police Service. This second male was on a court-ordered curfew to be inside of a Port Elgin residence 24 hours a day.

Also located in the residence was a 38-year-old man who was wanted by Owen Sound police on various charges including assault causing bodily harm, escaping custody, theft, being unlawfully in a dwelling and failing to comply with a recognizance of bail.

Finally, an arrest warrant was also executed on a fourth man, of no fixed address, who was inside the residence.

The man is alleged to have failed to comply with conditions of his probation order.

Additional charges have been filed against all four males pertaining to their failure to comply with various court orders including recognizance of bail conditions and probation orders.

All four males remain in police custody pending court appearances scheduled for Thursday at 10 a.m.
