Unusual weather combination heading our way

We are in for another up-and-down weather pattern for the next 24 to 36 hours.

Freezing drizzle is expected in some areas this afternoon, before changing to rain as the temperature rises to 5 C or 6 C.  Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots are already very icy on Thursday.

As a cold front sweeps across the area tonight, the temperature will drop to about -6 C, triggering a quick freeze, and bringing snow to the area.

A very strong southwest wind is expected after midnight in the wake of the cold front.  Blowing snow is likely, and there is a wind warning for Grey and Bruce counties.

The wind will shift to the west Friday morning but may stay strong for much of the day. Temperatures will remain cold, and drop to -10 C to -12 C by Friday night.
