Rally for education in Bruce-Grey

A group of educators took to the streets in Owen Sound Thursday to warn people about possible cuts to education.

Teachers and support staff marched with placards in front of Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker's office.

The event was organized by Bluewater District 7 of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation.

Union official Penny Huettlin says they're worried about the impact of cuts as the Ford government tries to deal with the deficit.    She says previous governments cut funding and the system can't take any more.

"Our goal is to educate our members and educate the public about what cuts would mean and what that would look like.    I've been in education for 30 years and at the end of the day it's about the students. That's why we do what we do," said Heuttlin.

OSSTF rallies took place across the province.

Huettlin says people should contact their MPP's and let them know they're worried about cuts to education.
