Wellington North dipping into reserves for 2019

Wellington North council spent almost two hours Monday trying to chisel away at its 2019 budget.

It did not make much of a dent on the $7.4 million total budget, which includes almost $800,000 in debt repayment.

Council wants to hold the tax increase at about 3.29 per cent, but it had to find $940,000 to do it.

In the end, council decided it is time to spend some of its large stock of reserves to hold the tax line without adding new debt.

Wellington North won’t be finalizing its 2019 budget until after it hears what’s happening with provincial grants.
