Review continues for county-owned buildings in Huron

Huron County councillors have received an update on the current state of buildings in the county.

CAO Meighan Wark explained staff are currently conducting a facilities review and had hired a consultant in October of 2017 to comment on their situation.

The consultant reported that the co-mingling of county and court operations created problems for both staff safety and security, existing buildings were functionally obsolete, not ideal for accessibility and use of space was inefficient.

The consultant also noted that operations across multiple sites required staff to travel, and that impacted staff effectiveness and collaboration.

Wark says the province currently leases part of the building from the county and they won't likely have any conversations with the province until they make a decision about moving into a new facility.
