Agriculture scholarship for Huron-Perth students

Former provincial Agriculture Minister and South Huron native Jack Riddell has partnered with the South Huron Community Fund and the Avon Maitland District School Board to set up a scholarship for graduating high school students in Huron and Perth.

Fund Chair Tom Prout said Riddell and his family donated $10,000 to get the fund started, and they're asking other family members and friends to add to that.

They'd like to be able to give a scholarship of at least $1,000 annually to a graduating high school student in Huron or Perth who is planning to pursue an education in an agricultural field anywhere in Canada.

Prout said this scholarship is not necessarily awarded to the student with the best marks, but to the best all-around student, which means a student who is involved in their school and community as well as having reasonable grades.

More information about the scholarship can be found on the South Huron Community Fund Facebook page.
