Perth South Council holds inaugural meeting

Perth South Council has begun a new term with the inaugural meeting.

Mayor Bob Wilhelm addressed the new Council and said it is a privilege to once again serve as mayor for Perth South.

Following the mayor’s address, Jim Aitcheson, the only councillor to declare his candidacy for the deputy mayor position was appointed for the term of council.

Mayor Wilhelm also thanked outgoing councillors Stuart Arkett, who served for 15 years, and Councillor Cathy Barker, who served for ten years.

Administrator/Treasurer Rebecca Clothier had some welcoming remarks for the new council.

"On behalf of the staff of Perth South, we want to take a moment and applaud all the candidates for putting their name forward to serve in such an important part of Canadian democracy, and congratulate the successful candidates on their election victory," said Clothier. "We look forward to working with the new Council during the next four-year term of office."

The first regular meeting of the new council is scheduled for December 18 at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Office in St. Pauls.
