UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm warning ends for Grey County

A cold front bringing unsettled weather with it is bringing rain to parts of Midwestern Ontario.

Environment Canada had issued a severe thunderstorm warning for earlier Sunday evening for all of Grey County.

A line of severe thunderstorms, unusual for early December, moved through the region, stretching from Craigleith to Yeovil and moving northeast at 70 kilometres per hour.

The weather agency has since ended the thunderstorm warning as the storms have moved out of the area. A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for Perth County, and has been cancelled for Huron.

Showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop along a cold front and move across Southwestern Ontario into this evening. The main threat is strong wind gusts to 90 kilometres per hour, which can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Hail is also possible and severe thunderstorms can also produce tornadoes.
