A long-serving doctor based in Teeswater will receive a provincial award as an outstanding physician.
The Municipality of South Bruce announced that Dr. Marie Gear will be a recipient of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario’s 2019 Council Award.
South Bruce Council, along with the Wingham and Area Health Professionals Recruitment, put forward a nomination to the College of Physicians and Surgeons to recognize Dr. Gear.
She is being honoured for the outstanding service she has provided to her patients in South Bruce and surrounding communities over the past 38 years. Dr. Gear retired this week.
"Patients of Dr. Gear hold her in high regard for her empathy, kindness, and intelligence," said Bob Buckle, the mayor of the Municipality of South Bruce. "South Bruce Council was thrilled to receive notice that Dr. Gear had been one of four chosen for such a prestigious award."
Dr. Gear will receive the award at a ceremony held by the College of Physicians and Surgeons at a future date in 2019.
