Bluewater Deputy Mayor seeks Huron Warden chair

There is going to be at least a two-way race for the position of Warden in Huron County for 2019.

Bluewater Deputy Mayor Jim Fergusson is running against incumbent Jim Ginn.

Fergusson says he's letting his name stand to make sure there's an election for warden for the next term.

His priorities include continuing with the Action Plan the county is working on, as well as affordable housing and economic development.

Fergusson adds with the expansion at Bruce Power, there are significant opportunities for Huron County and one of the things Huron needs in order to take advantage of those opportunities is affordable housing.

"I think that the county has shown a need for affordable housing and I think we need to progress in that manner, whether we go with the Province or through planning matters or with assistance to the building trade, I think we need to put an emphasis on affordable housing."

Fergusson has been a member of Huron County council since 2003, with the exception of one four-year term.
