Three seriously hurt in head-on crash east of Meaford

Ontario Provincial Police say three people have been badly hurt in a collision east of Meaford.

It happened Monday evening on Highway 26.   Police say the crash involved a pickup truck driven by a 56-year-old man, and a car driven by a 34-year-old woman, with an eight-year-old boy as a passenger. The collision was head-on, but police say it is not clear which direction each vehicle was going.

The driver of the pickup was taken by Ornge air ambulance to hospital with life-altering injuries. The female driver of the car has life-threatening injuries and the boy has been seriously injured. Both were rushed to hospital by land ambulance.

The Meaford Fire Department assisted Grey County Paramedics and the OPP on the scene.

A section of Highway 26 east of Meaford was closed until early Tuesday moring for the investigation.
