New acting medical officer for Grey Bruce Health Unit

The Grey Bruce Health Unit has a new acting medical officer of health.

The Board of Health appointed Dr. Ian Arra to the position, which takes effect immediately.

Dr. Arra worked with the health unit in 2015 during postgraduate training and has recently been working as a Physician consultant for the health unit. He has postgraduate training in Public Health and Preventive Medicine and a Master's in Epidemiology and Biostatistics.

He has worked on a variety public health initiatives including road safety, nuclear emergency response planning, health effects of wind farms, resource prioritization, electronic documentation implementation, climate change mitigation, and the built environment.

Dr. Arra strongly believes that knowledge through research empowers both the individual and the community. As a result, he has served on multiple postgraduate committees that are leading and shaping Canadian Public Health research and education.
